I Remember You

"On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me." Psalm  63:6-8

Often when we have troubling times in our lives, sleep seems to evade us; we find ourselves tossing and turning.

David has something to teach us in this Psalm. Through the watches of the night, David put his trust in God.

He did not use the time of sleeplessness to fret and worry, but to remember the times when the Lord delivered him from
his enemies.

We, like David, can spend our sleepless nights in precious communion with the one who can save us, the one who can fill us with peace.

It is through times of trouble that the Lord shows each of us that He is worthy of our trust, that He is faithful!

In the stillness of the night,
we can pour out our hearts to Him
and know that He not only hears us,
but is at that very moment working
out our deliverance.

That deliverance may not come in the manner that we think it should, but we can trust Him to deliver us in His own way
and in His own time.

Our job is to trust Him,
and because of what He has done
for us in the past,
we can have full assurance that He is our help in the present time of need.

Like David, we, too, can sing because we have the assurance that no matter what befalls us, we are under the
protection of His wings.

There is no other place on earth that we would rather be, dear Lord, than under your wings. Our soul clings to you,
Father, and your right hand upholds us.

Thank you, Father, for your protection
and the assurance of your help.
May we, as David of old, find our hearts singing because of all you have done for us in the past, and for all we know that
you will do for us in the days ahead!
Amen.
